What is it? A qualification that equips individuals with relevant and effective IT user skills. A qualification that allows employers and employees to plan learning around the needs of the business. It is: Customisable— bespoke software can be included Adaptable—learning is tailored to the job role Flexible—it can be delivered in bite-sized chunks Builds on existing skills and qualifications. A recognised framework that includes ECDL, CLAIT etc. Who is it for? Employees and volunteers who need to improve their basic functional IT skills (must be aged 19+ and living or working in Merseyside) Benefits to Employers The need for employees to be able to use and exploit IT to its maximum effect is growing. 1 in 4 employers report inadequate employee IT user skills. ITQ can help staff do their job better: improving quality of output and decreasing time spent on solving problems. ITQ is unique because it can be tailored to each organisation’s or individual’s requirements—it doesn't involve learning skills that won’t be needed or used. ITQ can be assessed in the workplace minimising the time spent away from the office. Staff who are fully trained in using technology are more productive. Training is key to retaining and motivating staff.
How is it delivered? - Learners are assessed against their job profile and skills gaps are identified.
- A combination of units is chosen by the learner and employer so learners learn what they need for their job role.
- Through the core unit: Make Selective Use of IT, learners apply their skills to workplace situations.
- Training is put in place to cover skills gaps. Learners are assessed on new skills when they feel ready.
- Other IT qualifications are mapped to the ITQ so learners can embed ECDL, CLAIT or other e-Quals as part of their ITQ without having to repeat work they’ve already done.
